Our Educational Philosophy

Every Jew is wonderful with a unique mission in life. We do not judge anyone, but show respect and appreciation for all.

Judaism is a journey where every step counts, to be pursued at one’s own pace and interest. Growth is never all or nothing; each mitzvah has infinite value unto itself.

Mitzvot (commandments) are not rituals, but opportunities for personal growth, to be studied and understood.

Torah is wisdom for living, teaching us how to maximize our potential and pleasure in life

Our Programs
Shabbat and Jewish Holidays
Holidays are inspiring at Aish! Children and adults alike will feel the joy of the family of which they are a part. Aish blends the traditions and culture of the past into an upbeat, inviting, provocative and contemporary experience that inspires and connects us to our heritage with warmth. The new Aish Campus will enable us to reach many more people in the community through innovative programming designed to create a personal connection to every Holiday. Children will have fun and positive experiences that will create a life long bond between them and their traditions. Adult programming will make Holidays relevant and meaningful to Jews from all backgrounds through traditional services and alternative explanatory classes.
Our Village Shul
The Aish Village Shul is designed to meet the community’s needs. At the Village Shul, Jewish wisdom is accessible to everyone, regardless of Jewish background or knowledge. Young children receive nurturing care at programs while older kids enjoy innovative Torah-related activities. For those adults who seek the meaning and relevance of Judaism in today's society, there are dynamic classes on Shabbat, during the weekdays, and on many weeknights. The “Friday Night Fire” Shabbat Services have inspired and brought together thousands of Jews in the local Philadelphia area. These services have made the synagogue experience a fun and upbeat event to attend.

Aish Hebrew School
The innovative Hebrew School program has been able to bring in new Jewish families and expose them to a warm, fun, loving and creative Jewish experience.

Aish Hebrew school is a primary way to inspire kids to learn and grow while exploring and understanding how to live a fulfilling life. It also offers an opportunity to educate the parents on the importance of raising their children in a Jewish home with the love and respect for one another that is part of the traditional Jewish lifestyle. We also plan on implementing a Village Shul preschool.

Teen & Singles Programs
Aish Philadelphia provides cutting-edge social and learning opportunities for Jewish teens and singles. We're working hard to create a safe environment with a warm, welcoming, and open atmosphere. Aish Philadelphia makes it easy for teens and singles to access more of the value in being Jewish, by translating the wisdom of our forefathers into a modern language relevant to the next generation.

Our programs Include: Jewish 411: a social gathering that brings together teens from different schools in the metropolitan area for an open discussion on issues relevant in their lives. 1-800-Shabbat*: a Shabbaton program of dinner with host families in our community culminating in socializing at a desert party and coffee bar. SpeedDating: an exciting, quick and non-pressured way to meet many quality Jewish singles in one evening.

Women's Division
Jewish women throughout history have been the foundation of Jewish values. We help to foster growth and development connecting women spiritually to Judaism with our uniquely enriching programming. Weekly classes and study groups are filled to capacity with eager participants. Annual events include: Supper under the Stars - a magical outdoor summer evening buffet, surrounded by Jewish women from throughout the Philadelphia area, capped by inspiring wisdom for living. The Brooklyn Trip - an insider’s look at the bustling streets of Brooklyn. From a million-dollar Mikvah to watching the hand-baking of Matzah, this whirlwind tour is a treat for the senses. The Women’s Israel Mission – an eye-opening, soul-awakening trip to the Land of Israel. Tour and study with some of the world’s greatest teachers. First-class accommodations and delicious food are included.

Adult Education
The key to longevity in the Jewish community is education. A Jewish family that understands, enjoys, and appreciates our traditions and culture guarantees a growing Jewish continuity. A community created around Jewish learning and activities becomes a magnet for new members to experience our heritage. Our weekly classes, user-friendly Shabbat & Holiday services, Holiday programs, Home groups, Discovery Seminars, Israel Trip, and Partners Conference provide multiple venues for anyone to experience a taste of Aish.
